This page explains what the Type 2 Toolkit is, and what it is not.
This is education only
The Type 2 Toolkit is an educational download. It includes a Lifestyle Guide, a 20-recipe booklet, and daily, weekly, and yearly checklists. It was written to share general information in plain, large-print language.
This is not medical advice
- The Type 2 Toolkit is not medical advice.
- It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or reverse diabetes or any other disease or condition.
- It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- It does not replace the care, plan, or medicines given to you by your doctor, nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, or diabetes educator.
Talk with your doctor first
Talk with your doctor before you change your food, your medicine, or your activity. This is very important if you take medicine for diabetes, because changes in food or activity can affect your blood sugar and how your medicine works.
- Never stop, start, or change a medicine because of anything you read in the Toolkit.
- Ask your doctor before you start any new exercise.
- Ask your doctor or a registered dietitian before you change what you eat, or if you have food allergies, kidney disease, or other health needs.
- If you think you are having a medical emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) right away. Do not wait for a reply from us.
About the recipes
The recipes are general ideas for everyday meals. They are not a meal plan made for you. Food values, serving sizes, and ingredients may not fit your health needs. Any food or nutrition values are estimates and can vary. Check every ingredient for allergies.
No results promised
Everyone is different. We do not promise, guarantee, or predict any health result, blood sugar change, weight change, or other outcome from using the Toolkit. Your results depend on many things, including your health, your doctor's plan, and your own choices.
Sources and other organizations
Facts in the Toolkit come from public sources, including the CDC, NIDDK, and the American Diabetes Association. Type 2 Toolkit is not affiliated with or endorsed by these organizations.
Information can change
Health guidance changes over time. The Toolkit was written with the information available when it was published. Ask your doctor for the most current advice for you.

If the Toolkit or our website links to other websites, we do not control them and are not responsible for what they say.
